We love to work with great people doing great things. We choose to work with charities, voluntary and community groups, public sector organisations, academia, local businesses, musicians, artists and friends.

Crisp, clear, warm and rich design for the community and voluntary sector

Boulder Design have been delivering web development, graphic design and consultancy since January 2005.

Based in Derbyshire, we work across the Midlands, North of England and beyond. We work in partnership with other like-minded people, and love to get involved with new ideas and share skills and experiences.

People and partners

Ross Hume
Ross Hume

Ross is the lead designer at Boulder. He has a background in the worlds of maths, physics, social research and business development. He has travelled near and far and been involved in community development, volunteer projects and charities around the world. He sings and plays guitar and piano, and loves adventures in hills, forests, rocks and coastlines.

Chris Johnstone
Chris Johnstone

Chris is the latest recruit, starting with us in August 2014. He brings some technical wizardry, but really we just hope to snag one of his beautiful photos for the office.

We often work in partnership with other like-minded people to expand our capacity and make sure we have the expertise to deliver what you need. One regular design partner is Tor Studio, an outfit based in Matlock, Derbyshire. We can bring together a team of trusted freelance developers as and when needed.

Values

We do what we do because we love doing it, and we want you to love the results too! We will dedicate everything necessary to get the job done on time, on budget and with a personal flavour that leaves us with a lasting working relationship.

We will build a deep understanding of what it is you are trying to achieve, and are keen to hear your opinions and feedback. Every project will be treated as unique.

You will get thoughtful and provocative creative output. It will be based on real-world experience of business development, research and consultancy. Involvement in music, travel and the outdoors also contributes to our holistic approach and helps us create work with integrity and coherence.
