Bespoke website design

Sorting out what’s needed

Use your knowledge and our skills to clarify what you want to achieve for your clients and customers. Together we’ll make sure we are heading in the right direction from the start.

Building a successful website means understanding what it needs to do. This involves determining the aims of your organisation and the needs of the people who will visit your site. What do you want to do, what do people need and want from you, and how can you best deliver that?

Developing the solution

Bespoke design and development will produce a targeted solution that you will be proud of and will increase your impact.

We don’t just throw in a load of technical wizardry because it looks cool; however, we can deliver cutting edge, best practice, accessible and innovative techniques, applied with subtlety and thoughtfulness.

Making it happen

Work in partnership to make your project succeed. We’ll start with conversation, provide smart project management and ongoing support. We’ll evaluate where we’ve been and sustain your momentum for the future.

This is our strategic and thoughtful approach to website building.

From your first online steps to a fully-fledged ecommerce website, we can build you a professional and easily maintained site that does exactly what you need it to do.

Technical bits

Here are some specific capabilities and buzz words that come up in our projects pretty regularly:

  • HTML, CSS, SCSS/SASS, LESS (HTML5 and CSS3 too!)
  • Javascript, jQuery, ext js, node js
  • Deployment and process: git, npm, composer, requirejs, gulp, grunt, ant, bitbucket
  • Frameworks: Laravel, bootstrap, foundation, neat, bourbon
  • MySQL, MongoDB, other databases
  • MODX CMS, Joomla, Wordpress, other popular CMS software
  • Moodle, BigBlueButton
  • WebGL, Flash/Actionscript

Accessibility and standards

The spirit of web standards is present throughout our work. In addition to basic best practice technical output we will work with you to understand how to create and maintain content that is accessible to all users on all devices and platforms.

Web-based application design and development

More than ever companies are using the web as a tool. Sharing information between distributed workers, improving communication between people working on the same project or to the same goal, allowing administration of systems from anywhere in the world.

Alternatively your applications could be outward facing, allowing your customers to shop online, customise their experience with you or simply keep in touch with you and your products.

Boulder Design can help you identify ways in which you can improve the efficiency of existing systems, or introduce new ones to make the internet work for you. We will then help you specify the application, and build something that is a joy to use and does exactly what you want it to.

Graphic Design

Graphic Design gets information from one place to another in the best way possible. Boulder Design can help identify the best methods to support this process and will produce clear, engaging and effective material.

The elements of good design apply across the board, whether you're advertising a product or service, presenting results, inviting someone to a party or simply have something you want to say.

We will work on a bespoke design solution for you that will get that information across, be it business literature (business cards, letterheads, templates etc.), advertising flyers, posters, information packs and brochures, wedding invitations, CD artwork, adverts for magazines and newspapers... the lot!

Brand development

The process of brand development can be a great way to focus thought and time on the core concepts of your enterprise as it will ask questions that get to the bottom of your values, objectives and strategies.

You will probably have a fantastic product or service, but at the end of the day it still needs to be "sold". The consistency of your brand - your most basic advert and introduction - is as vital as the design or concept: it needs a specification covering all of its uses, it must be easy to use so it doesn’t become a chore, and everyone involved needs the skills and understanding to apply it properly.

We will guide and support you through the whole process offering our experience and creativity - not just draw you a pretty logo!

Web hosting

Once you have a website, you need to have web hosting so that your site can be made available on the internet. There are thousands of companies out there offering web hosting, but at Boulder Design we have an extra special offer.

Our web hosting package is used exclusively by our customers, so you are not fighting with hundreds of other websites for the resources of the hosting computer.

There is a range of packages available depending on the size and complexity of your website.

Training, research and learning

Training and workshops

Targeted at small businesses or organisations working in the voluntary, community or charity sector. We can develop a curriculum tailored to your requirements, focused around web development, using the internet to support business growth, brand development etc.

Online Learning

The internet is a great tool to support learning and research. Online learning portals can create communities, collate resources and offer interaction beyond the blackboard.

Online Learning doesn’t have to be academic - it may cover professional development, induction processes, health and safety training, music or arts tuition... And of course online learning does not just have to be faceless, online "reading". You can use it in a mixed delivery situation, utilising its functionality in a training session or classroom, or use its more social features like online chat forums, video conferencing, or direct messaging.

We have developed bespoke online learning courses and created learning portals using two of the most popular applications: Blackboard and Moodle. Rather than taking them at face value, we have hammered them into shape to fit the needs of each client.

Online Surveys and Research

Online surveys can gather information quickly and reliably. Online experiments can be used with hundreds of people rather than be confined to a lab.
